WHAT IS BAPTISM? Baptism is the Biblical way to tell the Church and the world that you have trusted in Christ for your salvation. By being submerged in water and lifted out, you demonstrate your death and burial with Christ and resurrection to a new life with Him (Colossians 2:12; Romans 6:4). You show that you have died to sin, put your faith in Christ, become a part of Christ’s body and intend to walk in obedience to Him.
WHO GETS BAPTIZED?
The people baptized in the early church had all believed the gospel message preached to them (Acts 2:41; 8:12; 8:35-38; 16:14-15; 16:30-33). They had repented of their sin and trusted Jesus as their Savior.
At Calvary Baptist Church we ask each baptism candidate to share how he/she became a believer.
WHY GET BAPTIZED?
- Obedience to the command of Jesus (Matthew 28:19-20)
- Adherence to the example of Jesus (Mark 1:9)
- Clear expression of repentance and belief in Jesus (Acts 8:12)
- Identification with Christ as a member of His body (I Corinthians 12:13; Galatians 3:27).
Baptism is required for church membership at Calvary Baptist Church.
HOW DO I GET BAPTIZED AT CBC?
Before being baptized, people are asked to attend an information meeting or personal interview. In addition to a brief study of baptism, candidates share how they came to trust Jesus as their Savior. Contact the church office if you want to be baptized or to inquire about the baptism schedule.
